En route to a wetland preserve, I was serendipitously greeted by spindliness. Long, intertwining rope-like branches forming unique cursive lettering and engaging shapes. As conspicuous formations, they certainly seemed to hold hope that one would in fact see these branches distinctly from the trees in this dense woodland forest. United in their strategic way of climbing, they are artistic in achieving a unique way of extending and entangling around thicker branches and the trucks until attracting attention. Most passersby certainly would not stop to take notice of the meandering unless viewing them from a perspective of a botanist. So next time you’re wandering in the forest take notice of spindliness as art.
